Nose Work/Scent Detection
Nose Work Beginner
With Lena Mertens and Team
Canine nose work is an exercise where the dog's phenomenal sense of smell is used to identify and search for trainable scents. Nose work exercises were first developed to activate rescue dogs, but quickly spread to be a rewarding hobby available to all dog owners. After all, sniffing is one of a dog's favorite pastimes! This activity is suitable for all types of dogs and handlers, no special skills are required. Nose work is also excellent for dogs who tend to be shy with strange people or even other dogs. In this way, insecure dogs gain self-confidence as they learn to trust their nose. One of the principles of the sport is that it must be fun and comfortable for both dogs and their owners. There are no strict rules related to rewards or handling, and the training methods are based on the use of positive reinforcement.
BEGINNERS: This course teaches the basic skills of nose work. The owner learns the basics of training specific scents to the dog, and the dog learns to identify and indicate the scent to the owner. If you have never taken nose work training, start here.
NOTE: The first session is a lecture, so it is not necessary to bring your dog to the first meeting.

Rally Obedience & Super Dog
Rally Obedience - Beginner
with Lena Mertens and Team
Rally obedience is a sport developed in the early 2000s in the United States and regulated by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), combining elements of obedience, agility, and canine freestyle (dog dancing). In rally obedience, the seamless cooperation between the dog and handler is most important, rather than precise positioning of the dog. This sport is designed with all dog owners in mind, not just professional handlers. The goal is to train dogs to behave well in various everyday situations. In rally obedience, a dog and handler team progress through a course of basic heel work tasks as indicated by various signs. Tasks include multiple changes of direction, varied speed, weaving, spins, backing up, side changes, different positions, and their transitions. Rally obedience has four classes: novice (NOV), advanced (ADV), excellent (EXC), and master class (MAS). The novice class is performed on a leash, while in the other class levels, the dog completes the course off-leash.

Rally Obedience - Advanced
with Lena Mertens and Team
Rally Obedience - Advanced (ADV) builds upon the foundational skills developed in the beginner (novice) class, challenging both the dog and handler with more complex tasks and increased precision. In this level, the course is completed off-leash, requiring a higher level of control and communication between the team. The tasks in the advanced class include more intricate movements and combinations, such as advanced heel work, extended stays, jumping exercises, and more precise transitions between positions. The emphasis remains on the partnership between dog and handler, with a focus on smooth, confident performance as they navigate the course. Success in the advanced class demonstrates a dog's ability to perform reliably and accurately under greater demands, preparing them for the more difficult challenges in the excellent and master classes.

Rally Obedience - CLUB
with Lena Mertens and Team
We have set up a Rally Obedience Club for our clients who have already completed the Rally Obedience Beginners program with a set curriculum and understanding of the basic rules and routines. The Club offers the possibility of regular practice and improving the cooperation between handler and dog outside the formal courses and curricula, while still guided by trainers and experts. This allows for a more informal “drop-in” at your own convenience, or "catch-up" in case of one or more missed lessons.
To this aim, we offer a "card" with 10 sessions, booked at least 24-hours in advance of the scheduled club session that you want to join. A card is valid for one year from date of purchase. The Club sessions will be held every two weeks, starting on Tuesday August 27th from 19.00-20.00.
This course is reserved for those who have purchased the 10-session Prepaid Package.
